Ghost Karaoke

On a rather esoteric lecture, a guy dead serious pointed out that he was in an association, where he and other guys meet frequently to listen to ghosts that speak to them on magnetic tape.

Please????

Lets examine this.

Question 1. Why a soul should speak on magnetic tape?

Guess how desperately all the souls must have waited for the invention of voice recording on magnetic tapes over the last billion years!!!
Basically I would expect now that the souls got so much to say, now that they can express themselves, they mess up every recording on the planet.

Guess Elvis in his studio....
"Pleeeeeeease Grandgrandgrandpa... You told me story about Little big Horn already a hundred times. Shut up! I am trying to record a song here!"

Question 2. Why would a soul hang around here in the first place?

If I as a soul can travel freely there are definitely places in the universe I am more interested in, than further hanging around on earth.
OK, but maybe souls need still to breath, feel obliged to gravity or something and they have to stay on earth. As often a dead relative can be heard speaking on the recordings, I find it interesting that you probably have the souls of your relatives hanging around where you are.
This means we are walking in a cloud of souls of dead relatives.

Great.

But by far more shocking: From the perspective of a soul it means you are doing visits of your relatives for all eternity hoping them to turn on a magnetic tape, if you got something to say....
If you ever asked yourself how eternal torment might look like, here is the answer!

This must be HELL then!!!

Question 3: If a soul got something to say why would it not speak freely?
As the recording is done through a common microphone that records sound waves it should not make any difference for a soul to whisper into a microphone or to straight into my ear.

If found some instruction on how to record some soul karaoke yourself.

It says:
"Do It Yourself
If you'd like to experiment with EVP, all you need is a portable cassette tape recorder and some new high-quality cassette tapes. Make sure you use new tapes because you want to avoid any possibility of having voices or noises previously recorded on the tape.

World ITC offers these tips for successful EVP:

* Use an audiocassette recorder with an external microphone and a source of mild white noise, such as a radio tuned between stations. (Or, as other researcher have done, you can also experiment with the quiet of a cemetery or house; just be sure it is far from traffic noises that might interfere with the recording.)
* Place the microphone a few feet from the radio.
* Turn on the tape recorder and introduce the session. For example: "Good morning. It's Tuesday October 31, 11:59 p.m. I welcome all spirits." Then ask three or four questions.
* Replay the taped sequence and listen closely. A set of earphones can help make the short, faint voices more audible."

Again, we learn that

Souls like cemeteries or empty houses...
Why would a soul love this places? Would you as soul hang around a cemetery?
OK, but maybe the greatest soccer players on earth emerge first on the cemetery and they use the occasion to play soul soccer all day which of course attracts a lot of other souls taking a break from visiting their relatives.

Souls prefer some white noise in the background
Why is that? Why not birds singing or classic music? Or maybe the national hymn for the more patriotic souls?

Souls "don't often sound like normal human voices. They usually have an electronic or otherworldly quality to them".
Please? Souls disguise their voice, to do what? Make them sound more interesting? For Fun? Is the mystic sound part of the whole soul caboodle?

"Whooooo, schubidoooooooooooooo, Luke, I am your father, wobidoooooooo"

Maybe there is some code of conduct for souls?
Rule 1) Always disguise your voice while speaking on magnetic tapes. And make some funny sounds too!

Uff, what a pile of soaked bullshit!

I give it a straight 8 on the bollocks scale

This is what happens, if you start to believe and stop to think same time.

But I will not only mock on those esoterics. Lets take some time to explain the whole thing.

A big part of our perception is dedicated to the following 2 tasks we need all day in our social life.

In visual perception: As it makes social life so much easier, it is to recognize people. We recognize people by their face.
In acoustic perception: Listening to what people say. Means filter out voices and recognize words.

Also important: Perception has a lot to do with expectation. Simplest example is that is way harder for you to find the typos in your text, than in the text you read from somebody else. As you know what words you expect in your text, your perception might fill them in correctly, even if the words contain typos of even if they are missing completely.

So if you tune your TV between stations, so that it displays the white noise only, and watch it concentrated for a couple of hours, what is the first it you are going to see?

Faces. I promise.

And if you listen concentrated for a while to white noise, what do you think is the first one you hear?

Voices, of course.

But in neither cases it is the soul of our dead grandgrandgrandfather that got locked in a TV while it was produced in the factory, or that accidentally dropped by to babble some mystic stuff on your tape. It is just your brain trying to do what it does all day and that got deceived by the white noise.

What is beyond death?

On my search for thoughts that I could add to my spiritual treasure chest, I came by an interesting lecture with the subject of "What is beyond Death", held by a lady that voluntarily works in a hospice and for long years she accompanies people during their last days in this world (anyone know an English word for that?) .

In general the lady had the classic idea of souls. Means after death your personality separates from the body and gets into some transcendent state.
This theory is backed by the report on people with near death experiences. Some of them remember that they separated from their body enabling them to see themselves from above.

First she talked about several incidents, where she showed up that relatives should watch carefully their grief. She had the example of a little girl that was in the process of dying. Her mother would sit next to her round the clock and all the time she would show her grief. The mother did not want to let her daughter go. So the daughter felt guilty and sad what made her not let go on her life. The process went on for weeks until the day, that the lady and the girl came up with the idea, to come up with some excuse to send the mother home for one day.
They succeeded and the girl died in the very same night.

So what you need to die is a supporting warm environment but not people that do make you feel guilty and miserable only because you are to leave this world. It simply keeps them from going.

This behaviour was supposed to be kept on even after death, because in her believe it is possible that the soul, once separated from the body could try to comfort their suffering relatives, thus not going where it is supposed to go.

I must say I definitely like the first idea. I personally believe that grief about death is always a egoistic emotion, as is always expresses your strong feelings about what *you* lost, not about what the affected person lost. I mean the dead do not feel anything anymore, so what is there I should feel sorry or sad about? And if grief in this case is in fact egoism I really support the idea to control this emotion, especially if you keep someone from a peaceful transition.
Whether I support the idea of souls that could be kept from going, if the living show too much grief I am not sure about.
I personally do not believe in the soul concepts. For me it seems like a typical human invention. Scared by the inevitable death, the soul construct comes like a rescue boat to pick our personality up. Basically a cheap mental trick to outwit death in the end.

"My body might be dead, but I am not really dead! Uff, this was close, but good I just invented the soul. I am saved now. Lets fly around a bit."

It also seems to me like another common human weakness.

We always overestimate our value.

To be honest I like my overall personality. Some things could be better, but I definitely like my values, I like most of my habits, I like myself. I am lucky enough to have no mayor mental defects, like pedophiliacs or like people that tend to violence or cruelty.
But I think one lifetime with my personality is enough. I would love to go for another challenge, and in the meantime (the time between my lives) I think its fair enough if I take a nap. If after death I can't be bothered with life for while, hell I am fine with that.
Why should I fly around eternity? Has anyone ever thought about the consequences of having a soul?

I mean for example, what do you do all eternity?

Is there an entertainment program for souls?
Can souls play soccer?
Can souls chat?
Are souls recycled, or are they continuously created?
If souls are continuously created, is there one day a soul overpopulation problem in the universe?
And even if you find him, inspiring talks with god could become unsatisfying after a few billion years.

Even with this shallow approach. As soon as think the soul concept only a little further you soon notice that it has only been thought to the transition point. Means where the soul gets into transcendent state.

"Main problem solved, my soul is saved, the rest will be sorted out later."

This smells too human me.

Anyway. There are some indications that souls might exists, so I think it can't harm to control your grief even beyond the death. Just in case. I mean if you loved this person in life, you should do everything to support his peaceful transition

She also recommended that it would be worthwhile to leave the dead person untouched for a few days. Especially if it is intended for cremation. What she said is that for example fingernails and hair keep on growing after death. In this case it could mean that all the processes that make out life come to a more soft stop. In her believe it takes a few days for the soul to finish the separation process from the body.
We seem to automatically assume that the soul is located in the brain, and once the brain is dead it is enough for our soul to change into its transcendent rescue boat. But this approach seems to be too short if you think about it twice.
For example a lot of my emotions are reflected by my stomach. The butterflies of love, as well as the pain of betrayal. So the stomach is a integral part of my emotional life, and hence of my soul.
This would mean, instead of the soul being bound to your brain, it is probably more spread out with different density about all your body.

(I just looked it up, and it said that post mortem growth of hair and fingernails is a mere visual effect of skin drying out, or some muscles attached to our hair get shorter. There seems to be no scientific evidence, that anything is growing noticeably after death.)

But anyway, science is not the answer to everything, I think it can not harm to give the dead some extra days.

Next she told a story about a man that died in accident with his motorbike. His young wife got some strange feeling about her husband still being around, so she had a talk with with the lady. They decided to involve a medium and of course the wife was right. They found the husband trying to fix his wrecked bike that was parked in a barn.
But not that was alone, also the soul of his mother with him, trying to pick him up for his transition into transcendence. But as he was so busy fixing his bike he had not realized that he was dead, and so he had missed to see her. The medium then said something like "Hey guy, by the way you are dead!" At this moment he turned around and saw his mother. "Hey mom, thought you were dead. What are you doing here?". "I'd come to pick you up, you are dead my son". An by the moment he saw his mom, his wife, the medium, the lady and the bike he he realized what had happened. "Lets go" his mom said.

And of course it later turned out that his body was infested by cancer, and if he had survived the accident it would have killed him within a few month.

We love stories of this kind, do we? I mean even by the time I am remembering and writing this, it sends some shivers done my spine. Every time we get in touch with something beyond our imagination, with mystic and god like forces, we get this lovely feeling. But same time this is our greatest weakness, as this feeling is soon replaced by believe and with it any serious thinking ceases.

So what else I can extract out of this? She is conviced, that once you are dead to get picked up by the people you loved most in life. They introduce you to the world of souls. But then she said, souls eventually split up, as souls are attracted by souls with similar character.
They derive that from what I experienced many times, especially while travelling. People with similar thinking, similar values and similar interests seems to attract themselves. We transport information about us in many other ways than only by language. For example with a smile I can tell things about me, that I could not fit into many hours of talking. As I assume that the process is too complex for our conscious, much of the subliminal communication bypasses our conscious and we get presented only the result. So in the end we find somebody sympathetic or not.
What they assume is that this might not be limited to this life, but only for the transcendent life.

Again, I am not really into this soul idea.
And even then it would mean, that there are certain areas for souls of greedy businessman, the lazy, the bourgeois, the emotional, the artists, the scientists etc etc.
I am not sure whether I would like to hang out with wisenheimers like myself all the time :-) .
I think I would miss the diversity.

At this time in the lecture, she started to talk about herself. And there something sad become evident.
The lady worked in the hospice for years, during her talk her eyes expressed infinite benevolence and a lot of wisdom around how to deal with death and in what is good for people in the transition.
But in the moment she mentioned that her own and only son had died with the age of 21, her glance turned inward, she saw a picture of him and for that second that facade dropped. What she expressed now was pure grief.
At this point, the building she had built up, was shacking and cracking. It was obvious for me, that had never overcome the death of his child. And true, she had started with the work in the hospice soon after his death. It now looked to me much more like here was a mom, running after his dead child. Trying desperately to follow him as far as possible.

But still then. As we who had rare or no contact with death and dying, I believe she is doing great in what she is doing, and her ideas might be worth a thought.

The quest for the question of life, the universe and everything

Raised as protestant, I was even doing the confirmation. To be honest, only for the money, but still. Then my spiritual metamorphose started years ago with the first critical questions about my christian heritage, about the god of christian church.

Once you start questioning the religious and spiritual values you simply inherit from your surrounding culture as a kid, what former seemed to be solid ground, suddenly broke off bit by bit.

It did not take long and what was once my christian god and spiritual universe collapsed like a card house.

Stepping out of the smoking ruins, looking into the spiritual void you inevitably come to the one question.

What is the sense of life? Why am I? What am I supposed to do here?

Get born, get kids, then die?

A viable answer, but if this would be all, then everybody not wanting or being able to have kids, could kill himself on the spot, as he failed the sense of life.

So the answer had to be beyond this. I now put lots of thoughts and effort in this. I went on an amazing Odyssey of Mind during which I traversed the infinite space of what I am, looked in almost every corner, learned and saw incredibly much, but yet the answer refused to appear.

But then, one day my personalities had the following chat.

"Wait a second" my subconscious threw into my mind. "Before you go one the one big question, you have to you have the key!"

"Please? What key?", my conscious replied.

"The key is in the answer the to the preceding question." it said.

"This one's a cracker, but any other question should not be too difficult. Bring it on."

"OK, here we go", subconscious said with profound smile

Why should life make sense? Who said life has to make sense?

"Well that should be easy!" conscious stated immediately, "How about because........"

What sound so easy at the first glimpse, turned into awkward and dark silence.

And the more I thought about it, the more obvious it became to me. The assumption that everything has its sense is typical for humans. Only humans ask questions of this kind. And we automatically assume, that there must be an answer.

But for this question most likely, there is not.

For example I have never seen a cat or a dog to figure out the sense in their existence.

OK, I thought "Life might come without predefined sense, what are the consequences of this?"

And this is easy. For me the only sense in life is to have a good time here on this planet without living on the costs of others.

In other words. For me life makes sense if you are happy, otherwise it does not.

What god really intended with creation

When it comes to the point that we try to understand God's current affairs, we most of the time come up with our most beloved excuse related to our relationship with God.

"We are so small that we are obviously not able to see the higher meaning in God's current affairs"

We say this with without spending a blink of a second about what his intentions might have been.
Actually this sentence is all about to keep us thinking about God.

This is his carte blanche, his licence to kill and a the central pillar of religion and believe.

But for some reason and occasions, this changes and all of sudden we seem to have exceptional knowledge about what his real intentions were. So one day I stumbled about the sentence:

"This is not in terms of god's creation" (here in the sense of homosexual partnerships)

Amazing statement.

Well, in case there is god, we are so to say living in gods creation.
More precise, we all are Gods creation then.

And if we are gods creation, how can there be things he did not want? I mean, if I build.. lets say a house, I make sure it contains just things I want, right?

But maybe he made a mistake? A glitch in creation. Shit happens, so to say.

In this case we are saying that god, a being, that created life, the universe and everything, made a unfortunate mistake, but fortunately we know what he really intended?

Oh boy.....

Click on the the following picture and have a look.

It shows the Tadpole Galaxy. The colored dots in the the background are probably more than a 100 other galaxies. It is a spiral galaxy like ours. And our galaxy, the milky way, consists out of estimated 100-400 billion

again

"billion"

stars.

Stars like the sun. Some of them we should know quite well, might have some planets. And some planets we should know, could inhabit some life.

Now click on the picture again and take a moment trying to understand what you are looking at.

And now you say again, that god, who can create things of dimensions that exceed by far human imagination, made a unfortunate mistake because some people love a partner of their own sex????

If you believe in god, then I think that

having any doubt in its creation,
is the most arrogant thing a human being can ever say.

Why are you travelling?

I just got an email from Ilan, a guy from Israel. We did the Salkantay Trail together and the whole group got along with each other quite well. Ilan like many other Israelis was travelling South America after his 3 (for him even 5) years compulsory service in the army. So this is the first big travel for him. The mail was to a long list of recipients, so not specifically for me.

.... "thank you all the wonderful people i met on this fantastic trip that made me feel that there is much more amazing people in the world to discover and believe that meting new people is one of the best experiences we have in life"...

Experienced travellers will notice it was truly his first travel, but was he describes in enthusiastic words is nothing less than the essence of travelling.

If you want to meet really fascinating and inspiring people you have to travel Period. In one week of travels you can meet more interesting people than at home for whole year.

See other side of travelling is of course to go out and see how people in other countries with different culture manage things and life in particular. It is to satisfy your curiosity and to broaden your mind.

One of the best examples for this travel is GuruHans, whom I met in Huacachina, the oasis near Ica. Even now I could laugh all day if I think about his incredible story. His american parents were hippies and bet my ass off that a little too much of the common hippy practices made them turn in spiritual/esoteric people. His parents start following and indian guru that also picks his name.
The guru convinces his parents it might be a good idea, to send their son with the age of 8 to a boarding school in india near the Himalaya. There he soon feels that the stick is still a tool of education.
So he got raised 16 years a Sikh (see http://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sikhismus ) wearing turban and long beard. He learns a lot about mediation and was once meditating for 10 days.
Later he is going back to the states. He studies at the New Mexico Military Institute and another university where he finally studies art.
Most interesting was, that in our totally different spiritual development we came to some of the very same key conclusions.
Read more about his amazing story on http://www.guruhans.com or buy some of his sculptures.
Guruhans was just finishing his travel in south America and was about to go Pakistan to travel and teach some rock climbing.
In the same place I met a hyper nervous french guy, who used his excessive energy to learn the most incredible things. He worked as a clown for a long time, could balance all kind of things on his nose, could play the didgeridoo on a steel pipe and accidentally cut of his little toe on an LSD trip. He was travelling with another french guy that would not say more than 20 words a whole night but was smiling all the time.

Where do you meet those guys? Surely not in the cafe next door.

But maybe in a little oasis in the middle of the Peruvian desert...

Is international terror....

a consequence of globalisation?

The more stupid this sounds in the beginning, the more plausible it gets the longer I think about it.
